Safeguarding at SWC
We share the belief that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility and foster this culture across the College. The College has a dedicated safeguarding team that promotes awareness of safeguarding issues and is always available to provide support to students, families and staff.
The College strives to offer the very best education and training and recognises the importance of integrated safeguarding and support services as part of the student experience to enable students to achieve positive outcomes.
In line with statutory safeguarding guidance, the College has a designated safeguarding team. This group of colleagues work closely together to provide effective safeguarding and pastoral support interventions for all students at SWC.

Criminal Disclosure Process
The College has a duty of care to all its users to ensure their safety and wellbeing. In order to meet these responsibilities it is necessary for all students to declare any relevant convictions, cautions and warnings to enable the College to make a judgement on any particular risks.
Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar anyone from a place on a College course but a separate risk assessment or further checks may be required.
The College is committed to processing Criminal Record Checks in accordance with the Access NI Code of Practise which is available on the Access NI website or alternatively a copy can be requested from Student Services at the College. The College will assess the risk that you may pose and determine whether it can be managed. You will be advised about the outcome of this process as quickly as possible. If you are convicted of a criminal offence after you have applied, you must contact the Safeguarding Team and tell them about this.
