BPW has recently collaborated with South West College (Omagh Campus) to form a Northern Ireland based training centre in a drive to support local access to BPW accredited heavy axle training courses.

  • The two day BPW Axle and Suspension Service and Maintenance is a high quality training course giving students access to the latest axle equipment for training and demonstration purposes.
  • Successful candidates will be certified with BPW for three years.

    Level 2 Diploma in Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Competence

    This is a work-based automotive qualification that assesses the competence and knowledge that auto electrical technicians require to perform their job role effectively on vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots. This Vocational Competence Qualification (VCQ) is an integral part of the IMI SSC Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Installation Apprenticeship Framework. Therefore learners (normally aged 16-25) who are keen to build a career in the industry can take this VCQ as part of the Apprenticeship framework.

    The course supports the skills and knowledge development requirements for technicians in the Light Vehicle repair industry and contains 3 components: BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Technology (equivalent in size to two A levels, (core knowledge). IMI NVQ L2 in LVR and IMI NVQ L3 in LVR.

    About the qualifications

    This suite of professional qualifications is designed and developed to help learners build the knowledge and skills required in the in the modern motor vehicle maintenance sector. These qualifications are designed in a progressive way to enable students to achieve professional recognition in a wide range of job roles within the ever changing motor vehicle maintenance sector. Students will attend the college two days per week and a work placement in industry the remaining three days.

    Students interested in Light, Heavy or Agricultural vehicle maintenance and repair. Every vehicle has an owner and good communication and customer care skills are essential.
