Course Area Overview




One in 11 of all UK jobs now falls within the creative economy, and one in six of all UK graduate jobs are creative economy positions. With three times the average job growth rate why not follow your dream? On their way to working in the creative media sector students will explore theoretical concepts behind the creative production elements. Each campus offers state of the art equipment, enabling individuals to develop practical production skills using industry standard equipment and software.

BA (Hons) Degree in Visual Media Arts - Film (1 year Top-up) (Validated by The Open University)

The BA Honours Visual Media Arts is a hands-on production course that will enable those passionate about the Visual Media Arts to create exciting Visual Media Products to professional standards, develop original production proposals and showcase their portfolios at the End of Year Exhibition and Networking Event to industry professionals. Working closely with industry experts the BA (Hons) in Visual Media (Top Up) ensures that all our graduates are equipped with the skills necessary to succeed in the competitive world of visual media. OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Media (with Cert Art & Design)

This course is aimed at learners interested in understanding the media and in applying practical skills to create media products. They will develop knowledge and understanding by completing projects and assignments that are work related and relevant to the media industry. Learners will also develop the responsibility and skills that are essential for the modern day workplace including: team working; working from a prescribed brief; working to deadlines; and presenting ideas in a professional manner.

OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in Art and Design - Photography

The Photography based pathway is a one-year course and tops up the OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Subsidiary Diploma in Art and Design (QCF) - Graphics, into the equivalent of 3 x A Levels. You’ll study a further 9 units. Like the Subsidiary Diploma, a typical unit consists of initial research, experimentation, generating ideas for a brief, developing and presenting ideas to a client. You will use client feedback to refine ideas, presenting a final outcome in response to the brief. Each unit is designed to be delivered as a project, based on commercial outcomes.

The aim of this course is to build upon the interest learners already have in the field of Games Design and Development.
