Future Construction Leaders Programme
The Future Construction Leaders Programme has been funded through the Department for the Economy’s Skills Intervention Programme and will be delivered by the Further Education Sector. The programme has been created as part of the Government’s response to COVID-19 recovery for the economy.
The construction industry is facing unprecedented challenges during the current Covid-19 crisis and the sector is having to rapidly adapt ways of working in order to mitigate against the impacts of this pandemic.
The Future Construction Leaders Programme aims to build Northern Irelands capacity in the skills that will be vital to the future of construction. Targeted at supporting those who have become unemployed in the construction sector due to Covid-19, this programme provide the opportunity for individuals who currently hold a Level 2 qualification to upskill to a ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management Practice for the Construction sector and a Level 4 qualification in Passive Trades accredited by the Passive House Institute. Both these qualifications, in combination, will prepare participants to take up new employment opportunities in the future ‘green’ low carbon construction industry.
The Future Construction Leaders Programme will be delivered over 12 weeks. There will be one day per week of intensive training combined with a work placement with a local construction or architectural company focusing on modern energy efficient construction methods.
