Fibre Optic Installer Academy


The Fibre Optic Installer Academy has been funded through the Department for the Economy's Skills Intervention Programme and will be delivered by South West College. The programme has been created as part of the Government's response to COVID-19 recovery for the economy.

South West College in partnership with Vibreoptix are recruiting for those affected by covid who have been unable to find work or who have been made unemployed. This ten week programme which starts in May will enable you to have the skills to become a Fiber Network operator/installer with the possibility of securing full time employment.  For the duration of the training you will be paid a training allowance of £150 per week.  

The qualification will be delivered one day per week and the practical training will be delivered over the remaining four days.  If you have any questions contact Anne-marie.donaghy@swc.ac.uk.

Am I eligible for the programme? 

To be eligible for the programme you must:

  • Minimum Level 2 Qualification

  • GSCE Maths (If you have several years’ industry experience in electrical/electronic and do not have this qualification we can review)

  • Have the right to work in the EU

  •  Hold an appropriate Visa
