Prior to taking up this position Barry was a domestic and commercial energy assessor/consultant for FJD Surveyors. Barry specialises in the area of domestic energy efficiency and retrofitting.
He has gained six years of valuable industrial experience having formerly worked with Kingspan Century working on the design and engineering of their high spec energy efficient “Kingspan House”, PDM Architects as a Senior Architectural Technologist, NMK Assoc. as an Architectural Technologist, Century Homes as a junior engineer, and more recently with Action Renewables working to produce a composite publication on renewable energy aimed at architects.
Further to this experience, Barry also has experience in Climate Change policy at Local Regional and International level. He has been on Irish, UK and EU delegations to various related events in South Africa, China, Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic including UN climate change talks.
Barry is an MSc graduate of the Queens University through the Gibson Scholarship, where his research focused on the retrofitting of solar water heating in sport facilities. He previously graduated from the University of Ulster with an Honours Degree in Architectural Technology and Project Management. He also completed a HND in Building Engineering and Project Management at the Belfast Institute of higher and further education.
