Tapestry of Talent at Waterways Ireland

Tapestry of Talent at Waterways Ireland
May, 2019
This exhibition showcases the up-and-coming talent of the next generation of artists prior to their departure to degree and higher education courses at SWC and further afield.

There is a wide range of work on display, with something that everybody will find pleasing on the eye, including; mixed media, textiles, ceramics, photography, sculpture and painting.

Winner of the 'Best of Show' sponsored by First Trust Bank was Haidee Chamberlain, with her work 'Natural Imprints’. Karen McManus from First Trust was captivated by Haidee's work and was particulary impressed with the theme of nature running through it, saying; “I selected Haidee as our winner as her love of nature was obvious from her work. I was blown away by all her pieces but the ceramic fish in particular were so eye-catching. Even though Haidee had numerous pieces on display, not one piece was similar, everything was so diverse.”

The 'Most Innovative' award, sponsored by Ken Ramsay was presented to Roksana Dawidowska for her piece ‘Ways of Looking.' A strong supporter of the exhibition, Ken was impressed with the quality on display from all exhibitors. Ken said: “My wife and I are proud to be one of the sponsors of the South West College Art & Design Diploma End of Year Show. It is not a cliché but each year it gets better and better and this year is no exception. We sponsor the prize for the most innovative work, which was won this year by Roksana Dawidowska. We wish Roksana and her fellow students every success in the future. We are deeply impressed by the courage to bare their creative souls before the world in this show. Well done to the tutors, their families and most of all, the students themselves."

The exhibition will run until the 13th of June in Waterways Ireland
