The College has invested substantial resources to create Innovation Centres at each of its main campuses. These centres are purpose built to enable engagement with industry in a relevant and focused manner. Through these centres long-lasting relationships with industry have been created and used to complement curriculum development, a key driver in servicing the employment needs of industry locally, nationally and internationally. These centres provide state-of-the-art learning resources for all College students that are unrivalled anywhere in Northern Ireland.
The Idea Centre
The function of the Idea Centre is an interactive learning and exhibition space in which SWC students, other post-primary school children, entrepreneurs and companies from a variety of industries will attend to encourage them to participate in a creative process of generating ideas and rapidly creating prototypes to establish proof of concept.
The Image Studio
Image is an exciting new creative technologies studio based at South West College Enniskillen campus. It is a design and development area focused on providing resources and services in the area of digital animation.
The STEM Centre
The STEM Centre at South West College is a specially designed state-of-the-art teaching facility and exhibition space, focused exclusively on delivering educational and instructional activities in the areas of STEM. The CREST Centre
CREST provides assistance for businesses in the renewable energy, sustainability, environmental and construction industries. The CREST Passive Pavilion is one of the most sustainable buildings in the UK and Ireland and meets the Passive House, BREEAM Excellent and Carbon Neutral building standards. The CREST R&D laboratory hosts a wide range of new laboratory testing equipment to service the biogas and biomass industries with the ability to manufacture and test biomass products.
CREST offers an ever expanding range of seminars, workshops, conferences and research & development services for industry covering topics such as new technology installation and operation, low energy and passive construction techniques and innovation in product development.
