What is ACCA Applied Skills ACCA is the global body for professional accountants and employers know and respect this qualification and value the skills taught. It is a Level 6 Higher Education Course which is relevant to all areas of accountancy and finance. To become a qualified accountant, you must get relevant, supervised practical experience which proves to the employer that you have the skills necessary to do the job. Choosing the HLA route gives you two years’ practical experience which means that you have just one-year post exams to become a qualified accountant The ACCA Qualification gives you the most up-to-date skills you need to become a finance professional. Threaded through the whole journey are the ethics and values students need to make a difference. And because you can only qualify after completing at least 36 months of hands-on professional experience, student become exceptionally valuable to employers. How are the courses delivered? The ACCA Applied Course commences in September and is delivered on a part-time basis one day per week, term time over two years at Omagh Campus with the other four days in employment
The level 4 certificate course is the first step on your journey to a new and rewarding career as an Accounting Technician. The Certificate prepares you to carry out basic accounting tasks in the workplace. Successful completer of the level 4 certificate can advance to the next level, a level 5 Diploma to further their accountancy studies.

At SWC we offer the qualification at two levels – Applied Skills and Strategic Professional. To become a qualified accountant, you must also get relevant, supervised practical experience. This proves to employers that you have proven experience and practical skills relevant to the role. You can complete your work experience before, during or after your exams. In order to achieve the complete ACCA Qualification, students have to:
  • Complete a maximum of 13 exams, depending on prior experience and qualifications
  • Complete an Ethics and Professional Skills module
  • Evidence three years of practical work experience within a relevant role. This means that students can complete the ACCA Qualification in a minimum of three years
