Description

Level 1 Business Retail is suitable for those who want to work in the retail sector or those who want to increase their skills level. This qualification allows you to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in retail. It will broaden your skills and knowledge to cover aspects of business at this level.

Additional Information

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT at an appropriate level if you do not have a GCSE grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills in English, Maths and Information Technology. You will also study broader transferable skills in Employability and Personal and Social Development where appropriate.

Course Content

You will complete units in the following areas: Using Effective Communication Skills in the Workplace, Customer Service for the Retail Environment, Skills in Customer Service, Understanding Business Meetings, Developing Computer Skills, Using Word Processing Software, Office Administrator Skills and Health and Safety

Assessment Method

Achievement of this qualification will be assessed via knowledge workbooks, role paly and participation in group tasks and events covering all the assessment criteria. Practical assessments will be assessed on work based evidence and direct observation in the workplace.

Progression Opportunities

Progression to other courses within the South West College, for example L2 Traineeship in Retail or Administration. Other options include employment. These qualifications can help you to progress in a wide range of retail or business roles.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, learners must have the potential to successfully gain the qualification. The minimum age requirement for this qualification is 16 plus.
