This Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Installing and Maintaining Refrigeration Systems is intended for those involved in the commissioning, installation, servicing and maintenance of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems and supports the skills necessary for employment/progression in this sector.
To achieve the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Installing, Testing and Maintaining Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems, learners must achieve a total of 66 credits: 54 credits must come from the nine mandatory units, and 12 credits from the two optional units. Modules include: Install, test and maintain air conditioning and heat pump systems; Apply safe working practices in building services engineering working environment; Understand and carry out site preparation and pipework fabrication techniques for RAC systems; Understand and carry out electrical work on RAC systems and components; Handling fluorinated gases and ozone depleting substances; Category I personnel.
Assessment of this qualification includes a series of online examinations, written and practical assignments, and assessment of practical competency in the workplace.
On completion of this qualification learners may progress into employment or onto the Level 3 Diploma in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems.
Learners must have GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths and English, and be working in the Refrigeration sector.
