The course supports the skills and knowledge development requirements for technicians in the Light Vehicle repair industry and contains 3 components: BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Technology (equivalent in size to two A levels, (core knowledge). IMI NVQ L2 in LVR and IMI NVQ L3 in LVR.
The GOLD Motor Vehicle is designed for high achieving candidates in order to provide a new pathway to Vehicle Technician/Master Technician status. Learners will be employed in a garage for the duration of the qualification.
You will be able to inspect, test and diagnose faults on a range of light vehicles. You will gain skills to meet and deal with customers in a professional manner, manage your own time and keep appropriate records.
There are two separate assessment methods throughout the course. The academic BTEC assessments are 100% coursework based and will be primarily carried out by the use of projects and assignments throughout the duration of the course. The more practical NVQ element of the course will be assessed through ‘work based visits’ where you produce work evidence to satisfy pre-determined criteria at Level 2 and 3.
Learners can progress to the NVQ Level 4 Advanced Automotive Diagnostic Techniques.
