Description

Embarking upon a career in Building Services with Sustainable Energy can open a wide variety of career choices, for example, a career path that can lead you into a mechanical, electrical or a renewable engineering aspect of a building's envelope. Building Services Engineers also have a growing role in the deployment of renewable energy systems, sustainability and energy efficiency in buildings. You will be playing a key role in delivering a low carbon environment which will aid in combating climate change and fossil fuel depletion.

  • Assessment Method

    Assessment will be carried out via a variety of assessment methods which includes the use of coursework assignments, class tests, practical assessments, end of module examinations, group activities and professional presentations to an industrial panel. You will also be assessed in the workplace as part of your industrial placement.

    Progression Opportunities

    Upon successful completion of the Foundation Degree in Building Services with Sustainable Energy programme graduates may consider entering into employment within the mechanical, electrical or energy industries or continuing to study by applying for a place on a BEng programme in a relevant discipline including the level 6 (Hons) Top Up in Building Services with Sustainable Energy at South West College.

    Entry Requirements

    For admission to this course a student can hold any combination from the list of qualifications below that equates to 48 UCAS Points. The following qualifications are accepted:

  • · Minimum Two A ‘levels (grades A-E) and three passes at GCSE (Grades A-C/4-9). A student must have GCSE. English and Maths or an equivalent Level 2 literacy and numeracy qualification.
  • ·BTEC National Qualifications Awarded by Pearson,
  • ·Cambridge International Pre-U Diploma.
  • ·Relevant Level 3 National Vocational Qualifications with Substantive Experiential Learning
  • · European, International or Welsh Baccalaureate
  • ·Higher or Advances Highers of the Scottish Qualification Authority
  • ·Irish Leaving Certificate with a combination of Ordinary and Higher levels.
  • ·Successful completion of an access course or relevant foundation Course.
  • ·A relevant BTEC Higher National Certificate Awarded by Pearson. Students who do not hold any formal level 3 qualifications but hold significant and relevant Industrial experience may gain admission through experiential learning and should request for the College Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) procedure.
