Description

This qualification provides the perfect foundation for your successful career in business management in the private or public sector. The Foundation Degree in Business Management focuses on developing your knowledge, skills and abilities to prepare you for a range of careers in business such as Management, Marketing, Finance and Economics. Learners are supported to be entrepreneurial in their outlook to reflect local and regional economic needs.

Additional Information

Work Placement is an integral part of this course, providing students with on-the-job training that provides valuable employability skills for their future career. Upon successful interview, you will be placed with a company for four days a week while attending college one day a week for the duration of this course.

Students are required to:

  • Comply with College Policies and procedures, rules and regulations (available in your Student Diary/Higher Education Handbook, online: www.swc.ac.uk and on the College VLE).
  • Submit all coursework and assessments by specified dates, coursework submitted without consent after the deadline shall not normally be accepted.
  • The minimum overall pass mark of 40%, in all modules as per UU regulations.
  • Course Content

    There is a strong focus on industry engagement, with live projects and industry visits.

    Assessment Method

    Testing knowledge, understanding and application to industry will principally be through work-based assessment, practical reports, oral and written submissions and formal examinations.

    Progression Opportunities

    The programme offers progression to:

  • Part time Ulster University BSc Hons in Business (delivered at South West College); Link modules delivered at Dungannon and Enniskillen.
  • Ulster University’s BSc (Hons) Business with Specialisms full-time or part-time at Magee College; or other degrees at Ulster University.
  • More options are available through the UCAS or CAO system. A range of careers in business such as marketing, finance, administration, purchasing and management, with a specific emphasis on meeting local and regional needs.

    Entry Requirements

    Range 64-72 UCAS points, four GCSE passes to include English and Maths at grade C (or equivalent), or equivalent approved qualification at Level 3. Refer to general entry requirements.
