Description

The aim of this course is to build upon the interest learners already have in the field of Performing Arts. The programme has been designed to provide students with necessary education and training for those wishing to enter the performing arts industry. This course will provide learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life within the performing arts industry or to progress to further study. This 2 year course provides learners with an extensive and immersive performing arts experience, including live theatre performances.

Core Modules

The course consists of 17 units over two years made up of 5 core units and 12 practical units*: _x000D_ Core Units:

  • Performance Workshop;
  • Performing Arts Business;
  • Historical Context of Performance;
  • Rehearsing for Performance;
  • Performing to an Audience.
  • Optional Modules

    Optional units encompass areas such as:

  • Devising Plays;
  • Theatre for Children;
  • Contemporary Theatre Performance;
  • Principles of Acting;
  • Developing Voice for the Actor;
  • Drama Improvisation;
  • Film and TV Acting;
  • Musical Theatre Performance and much, much more
  • Assessment Method

    As a practically focused vocational course, assessment will be primarily carried out by the use of projects and coursework assignments throughout the duration of the course. These will offer opportunities to achieve Pass, Merit and Distinction criteria and will be tracked through the year to form one final grade for each unit. At the end of year 2 an overall course grade will be calculated ranging from PPP to D*D*D*, giving UCAS points in the same way as A Level grades.

    Progression Opportunities

    On completion you may progress to a range of Higher Education courses such as a HND, Foundation Degree or Honours Degree.

    Entry Requirements

    Four GCSEs grade C or above or equivalent preferably in relevant creative subjects. Entry is subject to a successful interview with the course co-ordinator.
