Description

This Level 3 qualification enhances the underlying principles and practical skills required in hairdressing. It is designed to deliver a high level of occupational competence and provide a sound platform from which to progress into employment within the hairdressing industry. Work placement is an integral part of the course.

Course Content

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing consists of the following units: Monitor and Maintain Health and Safety Practice in the Salon; Promote Additional Services or Products; Consultation; Cut Hair to Achieve a Variety of Looks; Style and Dress Hair using a Variety of Looks; Colour Hair to Create a Variety of Looks; and Hair Colour Correction.

Assessment Method

A combination of practical observation, assessment and on-line theory tests are used to assess this qualification.

Progression Opportunities

Learners may take up employment in a commercial salon as a senior stylist with supervisory skills or progress to other specialist qualifications in Hairdressing, including Level 5 HND in Hair and Beauty Management. On completion of this course learners may be eligible to enter employment in salons as Trainers, Advisors or Managers.

Entry Requirements

Learners must have a current Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing or equivalent and a placement secured. Learners will be required to purchase a uniform and kit that is available from the College upon commencement of this programme. Entry is subject to a successful interview.
