This course is suited to students interested in learning the skills to become a sports massage practitioners. Students will be trained in a realistic working environment in the college’s state of the art salons. Students will experience the commercial salon and will engage with customers.
This course will be delivered and assessed in one year.
Students will be required to purchase a polo shirt on commencement of the programme.

The structure of the qualification is comprised of 5 units which are all mandatory. _x000D_
• Anatomy and physiology for sports massage _x000D_
• Principles of health and fitness _x000D_
• Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction _x000D_
• Professional practice in sports massage_x000D_
• Sports massage treatments
A combination of practical observations, written and an on-line theory test are used to assess this qualification.
Students who successfully complete the Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage and will be able to gain employment as a Level 3 Sports massage practitioner, providing pre, post, intra/inter and maintenance massage. This may include working in clinics, for sporting teams or as a mobile therapist. This may be in an employed or self-employed context. Students will be able to progress onto the VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage.
A Level 3 qualification in Massage, Sports Studies or equivalent is desirable.
