Description

This one year, full-time, course is to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in employment in this globally, economically important area. It will aid your progression to further study and prepare you to enter the workforce in due course. The course is a vocationally related qualification so you will develop knowledge and understanding by applying learning and skills in a work-related context. South West College has excellent relations with local industry to facilitate this.

Additional Information

The college also will enhance the learning experience of students throughout the year to gain additional qualifications, engage with Industry Experts and participate in workshops relevant to the industry. _x000D_ _x000D_ Students also will have the opportunity to gain qualifications in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT if required.

Course Content

The knowledge, understanding and skills acquired will aid your progression to higher study as well as preparing you to enter the Travel and Tourism sector. The course is a vocationally related qualification, which means that you develop your knowledge and understanding by applying your learning and skills in a work-related context. It will help develop skills essential for the modern-day workplace, including, team working, working to deadlines, presenting information effectively and accurately completing administrative tasks and processes.

Assessment Method

To gain this qualification, candidates must successfully achieve the following assessments: Two externally set, externally moderated exam. Remaining Mandatory and Optional units assessed internally. Coursework will include a number of methods of assessment including written task, worksheets, oral discussions, presentations, practical activities and group work. This qualification allows achievement at pass, merit, distinction or distinction

Progression Opportunities

On completion of this course, students will be eligible to enrol onto the Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Travel and Tourism for 1 year or the Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism for 2 years and gain further knowledge and training.

Entry Requirements

Applicants need at least 6 points at GCSE level, for example 2 Grade C or 3 Grade D. Successful applicants will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and IT if they do not have a GCSE grade C in English, Maths or IT. _x000D_ _x000D_ Places are subject to individual interview due to the nature of this course. All applicants must attend a pre-entry guidance session. This criterion may increase subject to demand for places.
