Does exploring and discovering new countries and cultures excite you? This course could be the beginning of a rewarding and stimulating career in the Travel and Tourism Industry, while building confidence, having fun and learning in a new, diverse and interactive way. Through a range of teamwork activities, finding out about local, national and international destinations and investigating what the Tourism industry is about, you will feel well equipped to move into the next phase of your learning and development.
The college also will enhance the learning experience of students throughout the year to gain additional qualifications, engage with Industry Experts and participate in workshops relevant to the industry. Students also will have the opportunity to gain qualifications in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT if required.
During your course you will investigate the tourism industry in the UK and also research worldwide destinations. You will develop the skills needed to deliver an overall tourist experience through an understanding of elements of the course, e.g. airports and airlines, marketing and holiday reps and customer service. The course helps develop soft skills which are essential for the modern-day workplace, including team working, communication, working to deadlines, presenting information effectively and accurately.

The course will be assessed by two external exams and a range of internally assessed coursework which includes, written tasks, worksheets, oral discussions, presentations, practical activities and group work. This qualification allows achievement at pass, merit, distinction or distinction*.
On completion of this course, students can enrol onto the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Travel and Tourism programmes or may wish to go into the workplace.
Applicants need at least 6 points at GCSE level, for example 2 subjects at Grade C or 3 at Grade D.
Successful applicants will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT if they have not already achieved GCSE grade C or the equivalent. Due to the nature of this course, places are subject to a successful interview.
