Description

This course is a specialist work related qualification in IT. It is equivalent to a AS Levels. It is a one year course consisting of nine units. All units are internally assessed and are both practical and theoretical.

Course Content

Modules include: Event Driven Programming; Software Design and Development; Digital Graphics; Website Production; Communication Technologies; Computer Animation; Computer Systems; Communication and Employability Skills for IT and Information Systems. (Subject to change due to local needs.)

Assessment Method

The qualification is 100% coursework based.

Progression Opportunities

Progression to second year to achieve a Pearson BTEC Extended Diploma in IT, which is then equivalent to three A Levels. Possible employment opportunities include roles such as Administrator, Animator, IT Trainer/Teacher, Programmer, Technical Sales, Technical Support Person or Web Designer. Learners may progress to Higher Education at University or a Foundation Degree in Computing at South West College.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs grade C and above; Merit or Higher in the BTEC Level 2 First Diploma in IT or equivalent.
