Description

The HND Hair and Beauty Management programme provides learners with a solid foundation in management skills which can either be applied to the hair and beauty sector or be transferred to other industries and sectors.

Additional Information

During your course you may be required to purchase course text books and incur additional costs for printing, photocopying and binding. The overall additional costs incurred to support your studies may be in the region of £250 per year.

  • Submit all coursework and assessments by specified dates, coursework submitted without consent after the deadline shall not normally be accepted.
  • The minimum overall pass mark of 40% is required to be achieved in all modules.
  • Course Content

    This two-year course is ideal for those who already work in the hair and beauty industry and require knowledge and experience of management principles. The HND Hair and Beauty Management programme allows the learner the opportunity to apply the management principles practically in the context of the Hair and Beauty Industry. You will also have the opportunity to access a wide range of relevant guest speakers throughout the programme.

    Core Modules

    The course includes four core units:

  • Sales Management;
  • Quality Management of Client Care;
  • Salon Management;
  • and Management of Health, Safety and Security.
  • Examples of specialist units offered are:
  • Manage the Creation of a Hairstyle Collection;
  • Public Relations;
  • and Project Management.
  • Assessment Method

    Assessment is by a variety of means including group work, written reports, team activities, Learners practical work, presentations and project work.

    Progression Opportunities

    Options for progression include self-employment or careers in areas such as day spas, salons, health farms, cruise ships and brand management. You may also progress to degree level programmes in business, health, beauty, or science related areas. Past Learners have also progressed to a career in lecturing.

    Entry Requirements

    A Level 3 qualification in either Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy and Level 2 Essential Skills in Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent. A qualification in ICT and relevant work experience is desirable. Refer to general entry requirements. / International students must meet the general entrance requirements for admission to any College First Degree, Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma. / English language requirements for international applicants is Academic IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5. Trinity ISE – Pass at Level 3 also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.
