Description

The Level 2 Certificate in Induction into Adult Social Care in Northern Ireland will suit learners who are interested in working, or are new to working, in adult social care in Northern Ireland. Learners need to acquire essential knowledge of the area.

Course Content

Students will gain the knowledge required to care in a person-centred way. It is imperative that carers work in a professional manner at all times, hence the need for confidentiality and the adherence to the NISCC code of conduct.

Core Modules

To achieve the City & Guilds Level 2 induction award in Health and Social Care (Northern Ireland) Students must achieve a total of 23 Credits. Mandatory Units: Principles of communication in adult social care settings; Principles of personal development in adult social care settings; Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care settings; Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care; Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children's and young People's settings; Understand the role of the social care worker; Understand person centred approaches in adult social care settings; Understand health and safety in social care settings; Understand how to handle information in social care settings;

Optional Modules

Optional Units: Understand employment responsibilities and rights in health, social care or children and young people's settings.

Assessment Method

To achieve this qualification learners must complete all mandatory and optional units which are assessed through written assignments for each unit.

Progression Opportunities

Upon successful completion learners may progress to the City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Adult Social Care or qualifications in a similar discipline.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications required. Learners must complete Access NI check.
