Description
The aim of this course is to build upon the interest learners already have in the field of Games Design and Development. Learners will develop a fundamental industry knowledge in aspects such as Pre-production Techniques, Research Techniques and Understanding the Creative Media Sector. Through work related projects and coursework, they will develop practical skills relevant to the broad range of roles within the Games industry.
Optional Modules
Optional units encompass areas such as:
3D Modelling; Games Design; Games Engines; 3D Animation; Concept Art; Digital Graphics; Writing Games Narrative and much more. *practical units vary from campus to campus depending upon the specialisms offered on site.
Assessment Method
As a practically focused vocational course, assessment will be primarily carried out by the use of projects and coursework assignments throughout the duration of the course. These will offer opportunities to achieve Pass, Merit and Distinction criteria and will be tracked through the year to form one final grade for each unit. At the end of year 2 an overall course grade will be calculated ranging from PPP to D*D*D*, giving UCAS points in the same way as A Level grades.
Progression Opportunities
On completion you may progress to a range of Higher Education courses such as a Foundation Degree or Honours Degree.
Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs grade C or above or equivalent preferably in relevant creative subjects. Entry is subject to a successful interview with the course co-ordinator.
