This section of the website is dedicated to providing an overview of the Higher Education and Undergraduate opportunities available at the College. Many courses can be taken by part-time or full-time study and there is something for everyone from school leaver to adult returner.
The College is proud to have a strong and long-established partnership with both the University of Ulster and Queen’s University Belfast in the delivery of this provision.
Embarking on a Higher Education course is an exciting and challenging journey that may lead to unexpected destinations. International travel or placements, newly discovered enthusiasm for further study and research, or the opening up of new career prospects at home or abroad can follow. The courses outlined are designed to give you a quality educational experience to take you on a new journey – and at South West College our mission is to take you where you want to go.
Students
If you have recently completed a level 3 qualification, (‘A’ Levels or National Diploma), we have a suite of new and existing Higher National Certificates and Diplomas, Foundation Degrees, Degrees and Professional Qualifications. These are ‘standalone’ qualifications, but they also provide progression to Honours Degree study at the University of Ulster or Queens University Belfast.
Parents
Many of the qualifications on offer are classified as STEM subjects. These qualifications follow a key government agenda of promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It is widely predicted that the current skills shortage in these areas will continue to grow, and students graduating with an appropriate qualification in a STEM area will continue to be in demand. For that reason the government has classified them as ‘Priority Skills Areas’ and has supported the provision of industry standard resources and equipment in South West College. This will ensure students enrolling at South West College will have access to the latest technologies during their studies, and will be well placed to find employment on graduating. The College also offers a broad range of curriculum directly relating to industry and professional qualifications.
