The Heat is On for the Lough Erne Challenge

Catering students from the Enniskillen, Omagh and Dungannon campuses of South West College are putting their creativity to the test in a challenge which involves creating an exciting new dish.  The winning dish will then feature on the menu of the Catalina Restaurant at the prestigious 5 star Lough Erne Golf Resort from November until January.  Two students from each campus will go forward to prepare their chosen dish, which will be expertly judged by Executive Head Chef at the Resort, Noel McMeel and his Executive Sous Chef, Michael Mooney.

This competition is one of many activities, which is being organised for students of South West College courtesy of the Advancing Enterprise project, which aims to inspire young entrepreneurs of the future through creative thinking and awareness raising opportunities.  Curriculum Manager, with responsibility for the project, Camilla James, stated that ‘this competition provides the catering students of South West College with a wonderful opportunity to put their creativity to the test and to see their idea for a new dish become a reality, at one of Ireland’s most prestigious resort hotels.  Working with Noel McMeel, who himself has achieved significant recognition in the industry for his creative ability, will help inspire the young chefs of the future and is just one example of the way in with South West College is working closely with industry partners to enhance the learning opportunities for our students’.
