South West College Students Achieve Outstanding Academic Recognition in Administrative Management

South West College is delighted to announce that two students from its Enniskillen Campus were in the top 5 students who undertook the IAM Advanced Diploma in Administrative Management in June 2010.  The significance of this achievement is that the IAM is an International Awarding Body, with students from all across the world studying for the qualification.  The two award winning students are Helena McElrath, from Fintona and Heather Elliott, from Kesh.  The ladies were awarded outstanding academic performance recognition from the Institute of Administrative Management (IAM Awarding Body) based in London.

Since achieving the IAM Level 5 Advanced Diploma, Helena McElrath is now employed by the College as a Part-time Lecturer, delivering this programme.  Both Heather and Helena have been approached by Anna Lemon (Director of Education, from the Institute of Administrative Management) to join the IAM as Examiners, which will also require them to write Exam Papers and learning resource materials.

Further adding to the course’s success at the Enniskillen Campus, another student Aideen Johnston, from Enniskillen has this recently been awarded outstanding academic performance recognition for the Level 4 Diploma in Administrative Management.  Timothy Praegar from the Institute of Administrative Management said; “It is with great pleasure I can confirm, for the second year running, a South West College student has been nominated to receive an award. Aideen Johnston has been identified as graduating in the top percentile of Diploma students for 2010”.

Aideen Johnston said; “I am absolutely thrilled about being awarded the Outstanding Academic Performance award. I can't quite believe it to be honest! The award really is a credit to the teaching skills of my tutor Clare Connolly. I am just thrilled that I had the chance to do the course; it really has been beneficial to my work and has directly enhanced my workplace opportunities with increased work hours and a role development.  I really hope that future students have the continued opportunity to take part in this course as it is a great platform for promoting Continued Professional Development for students by enhancing skills and giving students a "level up" on knowledge, ability and achievements.  The course has proven to be specifically relevant in terms of the career opportunities in the Western local region by providing a solid skill set which is tailored to meet the needs of local employers whilst retaining a broader application for the wider UK area.”

The IAM qualifications will be available commencing September 2011 for Enrolment.  For further information contact Clare Connolly at SWC Enniskillen Campus: Tel: 08445 603 1881 Ext 2250 or Email: clare.connolly@swc.ac.uk
