It’s a piece of cake for South West College students

The Art and Design Foundation students took part in a collaborative 3D design project called ‘Piece of Cake’ with a local eatery called Kooki in Enniskillen. The aim of the project was to allow the students to engage in the entire design process of creating and making a 3D object from start to finish. The fundamental question put to the students was "What is cake?" So the students worked in teams to be as creative as possible to come up with cakes that would tempt any pallet. The first two weeks of the project involved the students pitching their cake creations to Ciaran Stewart (proprietor of Kooki) with the hope he'd incorporate some of their creations onto his menu.
The final stage of the project will now see the students create bespoke designs and ideas which have been inspired by the needs of Kooki, such as new packaging for cup cakes to even abstract installations for attracting new customers.
