Miss STEM Europe

MISS STEM EUROPE

Miss STEM Europe is a new project initiative delivered by South West College and The Leuven Institute (Funded by Erasmus+).  The project aims to build on and utilise research from the initial Miss STEM project, to shape future policies and initiatives to encourage more females into STEM education and careers.    It will engage thirty young females in meetings with decision makers in the field of STEM in the UK and Europe. Project participants will engage with local, regional, national and European policy makers on:

"How to encourage more females into STEM education and careers"

Participants will develop an action plan to encourage more females into STEM education and careers.  The action plan will be presented to Mid Ulster Council, Northern Ireland Assembly and European Parliament with the aim of improving youth policies and future actions while also encouraging young people to voice their opinions and engage in active citizenship.

Additionally, participants will create a vodcast and blog documenting their journey alongside development of their action plan. They will communicate the findings and outcomes of Miss STEM to a wide audience of young people, influencers and stake holders.

THE OBJECTIVE: To shape future youth policies concerning females in STEM education and careers
