Internet Safety Workshop

Gaming and Internet Saftey for Parents & Guardians

This workshop is designed to educate parents/guardians about the different dangers that face children on Social Media and increasingly in console games, and equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to try and prevent any harm coming to their children on-line. At South West College we recognise that children’s mental health is very important and this can be damaged or negatively impacted by their use of games and the internet.

This workshop will cover trending games like ‘Fortnite’ and ‘Roblox’, two of the most common gaming platforms being used at the moment by children from Northern Ireland and are infamous cyber bullying platforms. It will also cover how to protect children on apps such as ‘Facebook’, ‘Snapchat’ and ‘Musical.ly’.

This event is not just to tell you the problems and dangers, this will include activities and demonstrations on how to act upon them and help you make sure your child is safe. This is a free event and is highly recommended for any parent/guardian who has a child in primary or secondary school.
