Where is the course offered?

South West College offers ESOL courses from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. The courses are offered in the mornings or in the evenings for 3 hour lessons once a week. Courses are available in all campuses starting in September.

What will I learn?

The ESOL classes are taught in general English to improve reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. The course follows the ESOL Core Curriculum.
 

How do I apply?

When registering for courses you will complete an application form and you should bring:
  • Photo ID and also visa/residency permit if you are non-European
  • Any English certificates that you already have
  • The course fee (£100 to £150 depending on the level)
  • Discounts are available for students that provide proof of social security benefits or working tax credit.

Cookstown Campus: 5pm - 8pm

Dungannon Campus: 10am-12:30pm, 1:30pm - 8:30pm

Omagh Campus: 2pm - 8pm

Enniskillen Campus: 2pm - 8pm

If you complete the course successfully, you will receive a City & Guilds certificate, valid in the UK for work and studies but not for citizenship or visa applications.

Those students wishing to obtain a qualification for a UK Visa, British Citizenship or Leave to Remain would benefit from the completion of an ESOL qualification before completing the required examination. Further advice and support will be provided by your tutor on request.

Level 2 is comparable to a grade C in GCSE English and may allow you to enrol onto a Further Education course. Some universities may also accept ESOL level 2 as an English entrance requirement for an undergraduate course.

Note: Non-accredited bespoke training is also available on request for employers, community groups etc.
