Meet the Team
Jill Cush PhD MEng
Jill is a Manager of the InnoTech Centre.

Jill has worked in innovation and technology development for 14 years within the high-tech start-up business sector and more recently within the Further Education sector. In her role as research lecturer Jill is responsible for co-ordination of the delivery of a range of technical innovation support services to local employers in the private and public sectors, as well as other local support agencies and stakeholders. Jill has also successfully developed and implemented SME innovation training programmes and business support programmes.

Jill is a qualified electronic engineer by profession and has held previous research and technology development positions within Amphion (SME electronic design house) and DSiP Laboratories. She holds a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from The Queen’s University of Belfast and has published a number of research papers and journal articles in the area of image and video processing. Jill has also served as a principal UK expert within the UK Imaging Processing Standards committee and is a former member of the Joint Photographics Experts Group (JPEG).
 
Nicola Quinn PGCert BSc (Hons)
Nicola Quinn is InnoTech Co-ordinator in the InnoTech Centre.

Nicola has a Post Graduate Certificate in Communication, a Bsc Hons Degree in Business Studies and a HNC in Business Information Technology.

She has Fifteen years administrative and financial management experience in both the private and public sector, working for organisations such as Cookstown District Council, Cookstown Enterprise Centre, Mc Closkey International and Moypark.

In her role as InnoTech Centre co-ordinator, Nicola is responsible for co-ordination of the delivery of a range of technical and innovation support services to local employers. She has acted as Programme Co-ordinator on a number of business and technology support programmes over the past four years including the DEL Innovation Fund and The Employer Support Programme Innovateus.
 
Aaron Black B.Sc B.Agr
Aaron Black is a Research Lecturer in Sustainability within the InnoTech Centre.

Aaron leads the sustainability team within the InnoTech Centre and assists with the delivery of the CREST Centre’s work in the area of sustainable and renewable technology. Aaron is a member of the DETI Sustainable Energy Matrix Panel. Aaron’s work covers the areas of biogas, biomass energy, laboratory testing, waste management, energy management and composting as well as the broader range of renewable energy technologies. The main focus for Aaron’s work is biogas (anaerobic digestion).

Recent projects in this area include design and specification of gas handling equipment, design and specification of pre-treatment equipment, digestate testing and gas analysis.

 
Julie Anderson BEng (Hons)
Julie is a Industry Research Lecturer - Mechanical Engineering for the Mechanical Team within the InnoTech Centre and is based in our Cookstown campus.

Chris’s main role within the InnoTech Centre is to enhance SME’s Industrial application of innovative technologies, and specialises in the IT sector.

Involved in the industrial application of Big Data Analytics and Cyber Security, Chris has a particular interest in the research of how SME and Micro Businesses can harness Big Data for business growth.

This is achieved through the creation of bespoke technical training solutions, providing business support to SME & business start ups, through delivery of up-skilling courses.


He has many years experience delivering R&D and Training in the areas of:

  • Provision of training on Database creation and data management using Excel, Access, Filemaker Pro & SQL queries.
  • Mentoring on web languages, CMS platforms & eCommerce solutions, such as HTML, CSS, WordPress, Joomla, Shopify, Magento Go.
  • Provision of mentoring on implementing mobile technology for business: including cloud based business solutions, social media marketing, and mobile app based video & image editing.
  • Provision of software training in graphic & motion design , photographic training, provide mentoring on applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Final Cut Pro, iMovie.
  • Branding & Digital Marketing advice.
  • Surface and solid modelling using Solidworks, AutoCAD, Google Sketchup including training in generation of 3D design visuals.
  • Improving the curriculum by feeding back industrial knowledge to enhance student learning & develop course structure.

He has previously attained; a 2:1 BSc (Hons) Degree in Interactive Multimedia Design from the University of Ulster, Jordanstown; an HND Software Engineering from Southern Regional College, Portadown (where he was awarded Computer Student of the Year) and a BTec Diploma in Engineering from East Tyrone College, Dungannon.

Chris has recently completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Communication and was awarded the Ulster Farmers Union award for highest marks achieved.

Chris was previously employed in a local Architectural & Structural Engineering Design firm where he specialised in Technical drawing for Structures & in house IT Support, and was involved in the research of 3D design & design applications.

Further to this experience, he has a wealth of knowledge in Educational Training and Software Applications, employed for over 4 years by the University of Ulster as a Graduate Demonstrator, specialising in Web Development and Graphic Design. Within this role he developed and enhanced skills within the areas of Multimedia Design Applications, 3D Modelling & CAD, and Web Based Programming Languages.

He was previously charged with developing South West College provision of training and dissemination of Rapid Prototyping and Reverse Engineering skills and knowledge, and enjoyed the advancement of the local application of this technology.

Chris has also been successfully freelancing in design and IT consultancy for many years and possesses a vast knowledge of IT Technology and Design Applications.

Karen Quinn FdSc, BTEC
Karen Quinn is a InnoTech Co-ordinator in the InnoTech Centre.

Karen had formerly worked as a Datix and Datix Web Project Officer within the Western Health and Social Services Trust for Northern Ireland. This role involved data administration, management, normalization, configuration, quality and security of the system, analyzation for reports, enhancements for the system, budgetary control and the delivery of training for the system to approximate 3600 staff at all levels and grades. The successful role out of the database system was based on Prince 2 Methodology techniques.

Since working within the Western Health and Social Services Trust, Karen had worked as a Web Developer for NWIPP-Designs, North West of Ireland Publishing and Printing Ltd. This role involved heavily on the development of static and dynamic websites for clients in various industrial areas.

Karen had gained experience in PHP/MYSQL, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, graphic design and database management.

Karen has gained her BSc Foundation Degree in Web Technology at Queens University, Belfast in conjunction with South West College. Karen has also completed the BTEC Controlling Use of Information Technology. Karen has recently received her qualification in FAST Corporate Services, Software Managers and Software Audit Certificates.

In her role as InnoTech Centre co-ordinator, Karen is responsible for co-ordination of the delivery of a range of technical and innovation support services to local employers. She has acted as Programme Co-ordinator on a number of business and technology support programmes over the past few years including the Small Business Support Programme and the Cookstown Council Elevate Programme.
 
Dwayne T. Duncan BA (Hons)
Dwayne Duncan is a product designer based within the InnoTech Centre, Cookstown.

Dwayne graduated from University of Ulster school of Art and Design, Belfast with a BA Hons (2.1) Degree in Industrial Design (Furniture, Product and Interior). During his years at University of Ulster he also completed a years study as part of the Business Education Initiative (BEI) at Florida Southern College, Florida, USA. Previous to this he was a student at the Causeway Institute of Further and Higher Education completing a BTec Nat. Diploma in Land Administration.

Through his time working with InnoTech he has assisted over 100 companies by offering design assistance and prototype production drawing on his inspiration gained from visits to Milan Furniture Fair, FabLab in Amsterdam, iStud College in Italy, Renishaw in England and Tomorrowland in Disneyland.

He also worked with various design companies throughout his studies including Essential Designs, Portglenone, Smurfit Kappa, Lurgan and following this CFC Interiors, Cookstown.

During his years of study he focused on conceptual designs, presentation techniques and computer aided design (CAD). Design packages such as Adobe Photoshop and Solidworks. More recently he has also delivered Product Design courses on behalf of the Design Council and SouthWest College.
 
Matthew Quigley BSc (Hons), BEng (Hons) Agri
Matthew Quigley is an Industrial Technology and Training Associate for the Design team at the InnoTech Centre based in Enniskillen.

Matthew graduated from University of Ulster in June 1999 with a HND in Computing Science and again from I.T. Tralee in June 2007 with BSc Honours (First Class) in Agricultural Engineering Management.

Matthew was previously employed as a Mechanical Design Engineer with Kerry Die Products Ltd, based in Killarney. His role involved the production of AutoCAD drawings for the World’s First Integrated Wood Pellet Machine.

Colin is a Industrial Training and Technology Associate in Mechanical Design for the Electrical/Mechanical Team within the InnoTech Centre and is based in our Cookstown campus.

Clodagh is an European Programmes Officer within the InnoTech Centre and is based in our Cookstown campus.

John is a Research lecturer in Renewable and Sustainability Studies within the InnoTech Centre and is based in our Cookstown campus.
