Part-Time Further Education

Further Education Award

Criteria
A grant of up to £465 towards tuition fees (fee grant)
A grant of up to £265 to help with course costs (course grant)
(Entitlement to course grant will depend on your household income.)

  • Students who have reached the age of 19 years on 1st July 2011
  • Students undertaking a vocational qualification (e.g. NVQ 2/3, Foundation Art & Design)
  • Students ordinarily resident in Northern Ireland and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for 3 years before the course start date.
  • Non home EU students may be eligible for fee grant only

Hardship Funds

Criteria
This is a further source of financial help which may be available to you.

  • Students aged 18 and over on 1st July 2011 or turning 18 in the academic year.
  • Students studying a vocational programme.
  • Have explored all other avenues of funding

Part-Time Higher Education

Part-time Higher Education students who are studying at least 50% of an equivalent full-time course can apply for support towards their fees and course costs.

To be eligible for the Part-Time Higher Education Grant you must:

  • be enrolled on a part-time higher education course
  • not already hold a degree or the same level of qualification
  • meet the means test

This grant is divided into two parts:

  • Fee Grant of up to £1230 depending on the intensity of the course
  • Course Grant of up to £265.00

This grant is means tested and on student’s income, and income of husband, wife or partner.

Students can also apply for assistance through the Disabled Students’ Allowance
