South West College (SWC) working in partnership with the Ulster University and Queen’s University Belfast are currently engaging on an ambitious project entitled ‘Project 10’.  Project 10 is a forward thinking programme designed to deliver Higher Education to Degree Level (Level 6) in the South West Region through the establishment of a rural university base.  South West College is proud to have strong partnerships with both universities and it is through this collaborative drive that Project 10 is now in a position to deliver new Undergraduate Top Up Degrees commencing this September through blended learning technologies.

Successful applicants will be eligible to enter onto the third year of a relevant BSc Hons and can complete their studies over three additional years part-time.  These new undergraduate pathways are an ideal articulation route for students that have already obtained a Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma and seek the flexibility of part-time study close to home.

Deputy Chief Executive Michael McAlister said;
South West College has been working strategically with Ulster University, Queens University and the Department for the Economy for the past three years to establish Level 6 (Honours) provision in SWC.  That drive to provide undergraduate qualifications in the South West Region has been facilitated by Project 10 from the Higher Education Strategy for Northern Ireland.  The focus of the planned provision is part-time Level 6 programmes that underpin the significant up-skilling need of companies in the South West Region.

He added; “The programmes on offer are mainly STEM based provision and include BSc Hons Construction, Engineering and Management; BSc Energy, Environment and Sustainability; and BSc Hons Computing Systems, along with key business related courses such as BSc Hons Business Studies and BSc Business Administration.  Each of the level 6 programmes is linked to Level 5 (Foundation Degree) programmes already running within South West College”.
