Description

This qualification will provide you with knowledge and understanding of the retail sector. It will introduce you to the supply chain and different types of retail outlets and occupations found within the sector. It will introduce you to relevant legislation and procedures for maintaining health, safety and security.

Additional Information

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT at an appropriate level if you do not have a GCSE grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills in English, Maths and Information Technology. You will also study broader transferable skills in Employability and Personal and Social Development where appropriate.

Course Content

You will develop knowledge and understanding of the business of retail, the control, replenishment and handling of stock, maintaining health, safety and security, customer service, the selling process and how to work individually and in a team.

Assessment Method

Achievement of this qualification will be assessed via knowledge workbooks, role paly and participation in group tasks and events. Practical assessments are assessed on work based evidence and observation in the workplace.

Progression Opportunities

After completion of the level 1 programme there is progression to level 2. This comes with attainment of level 1 in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. All students are required to find an appropriate work placement.
