Additional Information

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills in English, Maths and Information Technology. You will also study broader transferable skills in Employability and Personal and Social Development. You will also be supported to gain a work placement in the Engineering sector.

Course Content

You will learn basic Health and Safety, how to read and take basic engineering instructions in order to carryout basic MIG welds to certain specifications and produce components using a variety of techniques and tools.

Assessment Method

The practical units are assessed by short answer question papers and practical tasks completed in the college workshop. The theory is by an online multiple-choice assessment.

Progression Opportunities

Completion of the Level 1 in Engineering enables career progression to Level 2 NVQ.
