Customer service is the support offered to customers, both before and after they buy a product or service. Good Customer Service gives customers an easy and enjoyable experience. This qualification can be the gateway to employment in any service or customer based business.

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT at an appropriate level if you do not have a GCSE grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills in English, Maths and Information Technology. You will also study broader transferable skills in Employability and Personal and Social Development where appropriate.

Course Content

This qualification gives the learner the opportunity to develop and demonstrate technical and sector-related knowledge on organising and delivering quality customer service and an understanding of the need to build relationships and follow all legal obligations. Core areas of study include Health and Safety, Understanding the needs of Customers and Customer Service Environment, Legal Obligations, Communication skills in dealing with customers and Processing customer information.

Assessment Method

The course is assessed through a series of written evidence and practical demonstrations.

Progression Opportunities

Progression to other courses within the South West College, for example NVQ L2 ICT is recommended. Learners who achieve level 2 will be appropriately equipped to apply for positions across hospitality, catering, office/reception and general administrative workplaces.
