This qualification provides the perfect foundation for your successful career in business services management in the private or public sector. The Foundation Degree in Business Services Management focuses on developing your knowledge, skills and abilities to prepare you for a range of careers in business such as Human Resource Management, Marketing, Finance, Law, Purchasing and Management. Course Content

Modules are focused on equipping Learners with the skills, knowledge and abilities to secure a management position in a business services role. The modules taken include: Skills for Business Services Management; Introduction to Management; Managing Business in the Regional Economy; Marketing as a Business Service; Accounting for Business Decision Making; Business Information Systems; Law as a Business Service; Marketing Communications; Leading and Managing People; Managing Operations and Business Improvements; Project Management (with PRINCE 2 option); Developing and Managing E-Business and E-commerce; and Work-Based Learning. There is a strong focus on industry engagement, with live projects and industry visits.

Assessment Method

Testing knowledge, understanding and application to industry will principally be through work-based assessment, practical reports, oral and written submissions and formal examinations. On completion you will also be awarded the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management.

Progression Opportunities

The programme offers progression to: Part time Ulster University BSc Hons in Business (delivered at South West College); Ulster University's BSc (Hons) Business with Specialisms full-time or part-time at Magee College; or other degrees at Ulster University. More options are available through the UCAS or CAO system. A range of careers in business such as marketing, finance, administration, human resource management, law, purchasing and management, with a specific emphasis on meeting local and regional needs.

A minimum 72 UCAS points (180 in old UCAS points), four GCSE passes to include English and Maths (or equivalent), one A Level or equivalent approved qualification at Level 3. Refer to general entry requirements.
