Course Content

A range of 2D and 3D fine art practices namely, drawing processes, painting, printing, ceramics, sculpture, cross disciplinary procedures, history and contextual studies. / During the first year of the HND students will undertake a creative industries placement – an opportunity which undoubtedly enhances the student’s chances of employment in the industry. / There is also an international field trip where students have the valuable experience of researching first hand other artists, designers and practitioners.

Assessment Method

Students will be expected to complete examinations in a range of subjects and to complete assessment material for all modules. Knowledge of practical procedures will be assessed through practical exercises.

Progression Opportunities

You can progress into a relevant degree programme at university with exemption of year 1 and year 2 in some cases, or seek employment opportunities in this field.

Entry Requirements

Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. / GCSE Maths and English (C or above or equivalent qualification). / Subject to interview (with an art portfolio). International students must meet the general entrance requirements for admission to any College First Degree, Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma. English language requirements for international applicants is Academic IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5. Trinity ISE – Pass at Level 3 also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.
