This qualification will prepare you for working with injured clients. You will develop a number of skills which include: skills to conduct subjective and objective assessments, covering passive and resisted range of movements, postural analysis, functional and special tests, skills to work safely and effectively on muscle and para-tendon injuries using a variety of soft tissue techniques and you will be able to advise on treatment modalities to support soft tissue repair.

Course Content

The qualification consists of three mandatory units that includes: • Conducting Subjective and Objective Assessment; • Provide Sports Massage Techniques to prevent injury; • Treatment Modalities to Support Soft Tissue Repair.

Assessment Method

The course comprises of the practical aspects of sports massage and learning the correct techniques to a competent standard. Theoretical learning will also take place and Learners are expected to complete assignments and practical assessment in a commercial setting.

Progression Opportunities

Graduates of this qualification will be able to gain employment as a Level 4 Sports Massage Practitioner, providing a range of advanced sports massage techniques for recent non-acute injuries and for pre-existing conditions. This may include working in clinics, for sporting teams or as a mobile therapist and may be in an employed or self-employed context. Progression is also available onto the VTCT Level 5 Certificate in Sports Massage.
