The IAB Level 1 Award in Computerised Payroll is specifically designed to appeal to those who are keen to gain an understanding of basic payroll procedures and/or those who wish to become professional payroll processors. It is for those who are new to payroll and who wish to acquire the skills and knowledge required of payroll clerks prior to employment or those who are already employed in payroll processing or allied roles and wish to augment this knowledge with an accredited qualification

Course Content

The course covers the basics in the following areas setting up a computerised payroll system, setting up employee records, entering gross pay details, processing the payroll, backing up and restoring the payroll data as well as examining the statutory requirements for submitting payroll infomration

Assessment Method

Assessment is by means of an external examination.

Progression Opportunities

Upon successful completion of Level 1, Learners can progress to the Level 2 Award in Computerised Payroll.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for the Level 1 in Computerised Payroll but it is recommended that prospective Learners will already have basic skills in both numeracy and literacy prior to embarking on the course. A knowledge of manual payroll would be an advantage.
