Description

The Level 3 Diploma in Bench Joinery has been developed for delivery in a training environment. It has been designed to prepare learners to work at an advanced level in the Bench Joinery industry, enabling them to qualify as team leaders and managers within the construction industry. It can be delivered in conjunction with the NVQ Level 3 Competence based qualification. Learners will benefit from tutors with industrial expertise and state of the art facilities.

Course Content

The course comprises of a combination of underpinning theory, practical activities and assessments. Units studied are derived from National Occupational Standards. To achieve this qualification a minimum of 125 credits need to be attained. This comprises six mandatory units: Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries; Analysing technical information, quantities and communication with others; Analysing the construction industry and built environment; Set up and operate woodworking machinery to create curved work; Manufacture shaped joinery products; Set and mark out for shaped joinery products.

Assessment Method

There are no formal exams for this qualification. The course is assessed through a series of competence based assessments in a simulated construction environment within the College

Progression Opportunities

Achievement of this qualification enhances employment opportunities within a supervisory role as learners are demonstrating occupational competence at this level. It provides opportunities to progress to further qualifications and training at Level 4 or above such as a Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision or a Foundation Degree.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, however learners must have the potential to successfully gain the qualification. Essential Skills at Level 2 are also offered in Literacy and Numeracy. Learners must be employed if the Diploma is studied in conjunction with the Level 3 NVQ.
