Description

The Level 3 Diploma in Painting and Decorating has been developed for delivery in a training environment. It has been designed to prepare learners to work at an advanced level in the Painting and Decorating industry, enabling them to qualify as teamleaders and managers within the construction industry. It can be delivered in conjunction with the NVQ Level 3 Competence based qualification. Learners will benefit from tutors with industrial expertise and state of the art facilities.

Course Content

The Level 3 Diploma comprises of a combination of underpinning theory, practical activities and assessments. Units studied are derived from National Occupational Standards. To achieve this qualification a minimum of 120 credits need to be attained. This comprises the 10 mandatory units: Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries; Erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms; Understanding information, quantities and communication with others; Understanding construction technology; Apply coatings by brush and roller; Apply wall coverings to ceilings and walls; Produce advanced decorative finishes; Carry out specialist architectural feature work; Apply waterborne paint systems using airless equipment; Prepare surfaces.

Assessment Method

There are no formal exams for this qualification. The course is assessed through a series of competence based assessments within a simulated construction environment within the College.

Progression Opportunities

Achievement of this qualification enhances employment opportunities within a supervisory role as learners are demonstrating occupational competence at this level. It provides opportunities to progress to further qualifications and training at Level 4 or above such as: Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision or a Foundation Degree.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, however learners must have the potential to successfully gain the qualification. Essential Skills at level two are also offered in Literacy and Numeracy. Learners must be employed if the Diploma is studied in conjunction with the NVQ.
