Description

The Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry has been developed for delivery in a training environment. It has been designed to prepare learners to work at an advanced level in the Site Carpentry industry, enabling them to qualify as team leaders and managers within the construction industry. It can be delivered in conjunction with the NVQ Level 3 Competence based qualification. Learners will benefit from tutors with industrial expertise and state of the art facilities.

Course Content

To achieve this qualification a minimum of 123 credits need to be attained. This comprises eight mandatory units: Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries; Carry out first fixing operations; Carry out second fixing operations; Set up and operate cutting and shaping machinery; Analysing technical information, quantities and communication with others; Analysing the construction industry and built environment; Erect complex structural carcassing components; Install and maintain nonstructural and structural components.

Assessment Method

There are no formal exams for this qualification. The course is assessed through a series of competence based assessments within a simulated construction environment within the College.

Progression Opportunities

Achievement of this qualification enhances employment opportunities within a supervisory role as learners are demonstrating occupational competence at this level. It provides opportunities to progress to further qualifications and training at Level 4 or above such as the Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision or a Foundation Degree.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, learners must have the potential to successfully gain the qualification. Essential skills at Level 2 are also offered in English and Maths. Learners must be employed if the Diploma is studied in conjunction with the NVQ.
