Description

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing – Painting and Decorating is a competence based qualification delivered in conjunction with a Level 3 Diploma (training Based). This course is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to pursue a Painting and Decorating career within the construction industry. Learners will benefit from tutors with industrial expertise and state of the art facilities.

Course Content

The Level 3 Diploma comprises of a combination of underpinning theory, practical activities, assessments and workplace experience. Units studied are derived from National Occupational Standards. To achieve this qualification a minimum of 123 credits need to be attained. This comprises mandatory units (listed) plus optional units available on request. Core Units: Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area in the Workplace; Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace; Confirming the Occupational Method of Work in the Workplace; Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace; Preparing surfaces for painting/decorating in the workplace; Applying Paint Systems to Complex Surfaces by Brush.

Assessment Method

There are no formal exams for this qualification. The course is assessed through a series of competence based assessments within the work place and in College.

Progression Opportunities

Achievement of this qualification enhances employment opportunities within a supervisory role as learners are demonstrating occupational competence at this level. It provides opportunities to progress to further qualifications and training at Level 4 or above such as: Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision or a Foundation Degree.

There are no formal entry requirements, however, learners must have the potential to successfully gain the qualification. Essential Skills at Level 2 are offered in Literacy and Numeracy. A work placement is an essential requirement for this course.
