Course Content

Core Units: Complying with Statutory Regulations and Organisational Safety Requirements; Using and Interpreting Engineering Drawings and Documents; Working efficiently and effectively in Engineering. Selected units are the chosen to support learners in one of the following pathways: Machining; CNC Machining; Machine Tool Setting; Fitting and Assembly. City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Engineering will also be completed as knowledge by learners at this stage.

Assessment Method

Practical evidence will be assessed in the workplace. Knowledge evidence will be assessed by completion of City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, involving a number of written and practical assessments.

Progression Opportunities

Learners who successfully complete Level 3 may progress into supervisory, managerial or technical fields within the Engineering industry. Alternatively, learners may wish to progress to a Level 4 HNC in Engineering, a Foundation Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a Level 4 Engineering Apprenticeship.

This is a work related, stand alone, competence based qualification, with no formal entry requirements. Learners should have the opportunity to gather work based evidence. This may suit those currently in employment and wish to have their competence within the Engineering sector recognised.
