The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance has been designed for those learners who require specific knowledge within the maintenance sector of engineering. The aim of the qualification is to recognise the skills and competence required by those who work within engineering undertaking maintenance operations. Success in the qualification will recognise an ability to competently perform practical work and an understanding of the related technology.

Course Content

A blend of compulsory Core units and optional units support local industry requirements for specific occupational pathways such as mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, fluid power and PLC programming. Other optional units include Pneumatics, Hydraulics, fault diagnosis techniques, welding and Crushing and Screening Maintenance.

Assessment Method

Practical evidence will be assessed in the workplace. Knowledge evidence will be assessed by completion of a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, involving a number of written and practical assessments.

Progression Opportunities

Learners who successfully complete Level 3 may progress into supervisory, managerial or technical fields within the Engineering industry. Alternatively, learners may wish to progress to a Foundation Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or a Level 4 HNC.
