Description

The Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership will help learners to develop the skills and abilities needed to become a supervisor or team leader. This Diploma may suit learners if they've worked in the hospitality industry for some time - perhaps they have plenty of experience, and they might already supervise others or manage resources. The Diploma develops customer service skills, resource allocation skills and objective setting.

Course Content

Through practical supervisory tasks such as leading meetings and objective setting, learners will develop and improve positive working relationships, time management and leadership skills. Modules include: Set Objectives and Provide Support for Team Members; Develop working Relationships; Contribute to the Control of Resources; Maintain the Health, Hygiene, Safety and Security of the Working Environment; Lead a Team to Improve Customer Service. Examples of optional units: Supervise Food Service; Supervise Drink Services; Supervise Practices for Handling Payments; Ensure Food Safety Practices are followed in the Preparation and Serving of Food and Drink; Lead and Manage Meetings; Employment Rights and Responsibilities in the Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism Sector.

Assessment Method

To achieve the Diploma learners will be observed in their workplace or Realistic Work Environment (RWE) to assess their workplace performance. Learners will also present a portfolio of written evidence, answers to underpinning knowledge questions, and records of observations.

Progression Opportunities

The Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership will promote employability in a wide range of roles including: Catering/Restaurant Manager; Hotel Duty Manager; Kitchen Supervisor/Manager; Contract Catering Supervisor/Team Leader. Alternatively, learners can continue their studies in the hospitality sector, for example, a Foundation Degree in Hospitality, Tourism or Events Management.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs or equivalent. Experience in the hospitality industry is beneficial although not essential. Entry is subject to a successful interview.
