Course Content

Learners must complete all Core Units as listed and a number of Optional Units, details of which are available on request. Core Units: Complying with Statutory Regulations and Organisational Safety Requirements; Using and Interpreting Engineering Drawings and documents; Working efficiently and effectively in Engineering; Setting Centre Lathes for Production; Machining Components using Centre Lathes. City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering will also be completed by learners at this stage.

Assessment Method

Practical evidence will be assessed in the workplace. Knowledge evidence will be assessed by completion of City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Engineering, Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering, involving a number of written and practical assessments.

Progression Opportunities

Learners who successfully complete Level 3 may progress into supervisory, managerial or technical fields within the Engineering industry. Alternatively, learners may wish to progress to a Foundation Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or a Level 4 Engineering Apprenticeship.
