The Level 2 Diploma is suited to learners who are working in the care field and who do not have any qualifications in Health and Social Care or for learners who wish to pursue a career in a range of care fields.

Course Content

To achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, learners must achieve a minimum of 46 credits, 24 credits from mandatory units in Group A, a minimum or two credits and a maximum of seven credits from Option Group B and at least 15 credits from Option Group C. Examples of Group A units: Introduction to communication; Introduction to personal development. Examples of Group B units: Dementia awareness; Infection Control. Examples of Group C units: Person centred approaches; Provide support for leisure activities.

Assessment Method

This qualification is assessed through observation in a relevant care workplace, written assignments, oral and written questions.

Progression Opportunities

On completion of this qualification learners can progress to employment in the care field. Learners may wish to progress to Level 3 Diploma in Adult Social Care.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, however, learners will be required to complete the Induction Into Adult Social Care as part of this qualification. Depending on GCSE results, learners may be required to complete qualifications in Essential Skills and Employability Skills.
