Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science

This qualification has been designed to allow Learners to work towards employment as a Pharmacy Technician. Successful completion of this in conjunction with Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills will allow the Learners to satisfy the requirements for registration to work as a pharmacy technician as required by the General Pharmceutical Council.

Course Content

Learners will study 19 units over 2 years. Units range from Human Physiology for Pharmacy to Dispensing and Supply of Medicines. Learners must achieve at 120 credits from these 19 units. Learners must be over 16 years of age. Learners will be taught in a laboratory environment as well as in a theory room equipped with IT equipment for research purposes. The Science Laboratory is fitted with industry standard equipment.

Assessment Method

This course is 100% coursework. Coursework consists of presentations, written assignments and practical assessments.

Progression Opportunities

Learners who complete this Diploma can progress to Foundation Degree in Applied and Medical Science and if completed in conjunction with NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services can apply for registration to the General Pharmaceutical Council as Registered Pharmacy Technician.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs which must be English and Maths GCSE and one Science (A C). Consideration will be given to Learners who have relevant experience and who can demonstrate ability through employment or other qualifications.
