IAB Level 1 Award in Computerised Book-Keeping

This qualification is aimed at Learnerss who wish to gain a qualification using computerised bookkeeping or for those Learners who have some practical knowledge and skills and wish to gain an accredited qualification in the subject. Owners of small businesses may also find this qualification useful as it gives coverage of the basic use of commercially available computerised software, suitable for the production of small business accounts.

Course Content

To achieve this qualification, two mandatory units consisting of 4 credits must be achieved. Record Routine Bookkeeping Transactions using a Computerised System - and Prepare and Record Sales and Purchase Documents using a Computerised System. Areas covered in the units include Health, Safety and Security, Setting up the System, Creating and Maintaining accounts, Entering opening balances, Entering Invoices, Credit Notes, Payments and Recepits, Carrying out Bank Reconciliation Statements, Recording Petty Cash Transactions as well as Printing reports for Management.

Assessment Method

Assessment is by means of an externally assessed 1.5 hours examination, plus additional printing time.

Progression Opportunities

Learners can progress to the Level 2 Award in Computerised Book-keeping or enrol on the Payroll qualitifications. Level 2 and Level3 Administration qualificatins are also awailable
